Tasks and responsibilities
- Translate business, compliance, and regulatory requirements into functional and technical specifications suitable for implementation
- Document reporting logic, data transformations, and field level requirements
- Ensure specifications are clear, testable, and aligned with governing guidelines
- Work with business stakeholders to refine scope, confirm assumptions, and resolve ambiguities
- Lead data mapping activities between source systems and regulatory schemas (XML, JSON, CSV, proprietary formats)
- Prototype report outputs (e.g., draft XML/JSON structures) using SQL and Python to validate data gaps or logic
- Identify missing data, inconsistencies, or transformation rules needed for accurate reporting
- Support definition of data validation rules and quality checks
- Work with compliance and regulatory SMEs to validate interpretations and clarify reporting requirements
- Collaborate with architects and technical leads to design feasible reporting solutions
- Engage with delivery teams to support implementation, testing, and production rollout
- Contribute to workshops, requirement walkthroughs, and decision-making discussions
- Provide functional guidance during development and testing phases
- Prepare edge-case scenarios, field-level validations, and reference examples of expected report output
- Ensure end-to-end traceability between regulatory obligations, functional specs, and delivered reports
- Support defect analysis and help ensure timely resolution

Must-have criteria
- Understanding of major financial regulations, especially:

- EMIR / EMIR Refit
- MiFID II / MiFIR
- AMLD5
- Strong ability to analyse source data and map it to reporting schemas
- Proficiency in SQL for data validation and exploratory analysis
- Working knowledge of Python to support prototyping, structure output formats, and test logic
- Experience interpreting and producing XML, JSON, and similar structured formats
- Ability to understand data models, schemas, and integration flows at a conceptual level
- Strong experience creating clear, structured functional specifications
- Ability to clarify ambiguous requirements and drive decisions with stakeholders
- Comfortable working with delivery teams across analysis, specification, development, and testing
- Structured, detail-oriented mindset with strong analytical capability
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or another relevant field
- 7+ years of experience in data engineering or backend engineering with a strong data focus
- Clear, concise communication with both business and technical audiences
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to facilitate discussions
- Proactive, reliable, and able to work independently
- Ability to work under time pressure, especially for regulatory deadlines

Nice-to-have criteria
- Country-specific Bank reports (e.g., Luxembourg, Italy, Spain, Portugal, …)
- Familiarity with trade lifecycle concepts and financial products (securities, derivatives, FX, etc.)
- Knowledge of regulatory reporting formats and principles
- Experience in regulated environments (finance, insurance, healthcare) is a strong advantage
- German/French is an advantage
- Experience with Temenos T24/Transact, Temenos Triple'A, or similar core banking platforms is an advantage
