Tasks and responsibilities
  • Design, analyse, and document high-quality, detailed (X-ray) test cases and ensure strong coverage for both manual execution and future automation in project environments
  • Produce step-by-step test case documentation in X-ray format, including T24 navigation paths, user access and role requirements, data setup prerequisites, and environment specifics
  • Create test specifications based on detailed technical analysis of both functional and non-functional requirements (reliability, efficiency, usability, etc.)
  • Work with requirements engineers and business stakeholders to capture end-to-end product life cycles and translate them into structured, automatable test scenarios
  • Review and validate existing test cases against current business processes, identifying outdated, duplicated, or missing scenarios and updating the portfolio accordingly
  • Implement the test strategy using standardized test methods and tools, with a high focus on automation readiness
  • Analyse, test, and evaluate user requirements, specifications, and models in terms of testability
  • Set up the test environment and required test data
  • Conduct and document tests in alignment with specified test cases; identify, analyze, describe, and isolate errors
  • Analyse the product risk to determine the test depth and identify residual risks
  • Collaborate closely with requirements engineers to ensure test cases reflect both business intent and technical implementation details, particularly for core banking and payments domains
  • Coordinate with the test automation engineer to ensure documented test cases are directly usable for automation without rework
  • Provide test reports and evidence to key stakeholders
  • Support the handover of project test cases into the regression portfolio within agreed timelines (sprints)

Must-have criteria
  • Requirements analysis and gap identification; ability to understand complex banking workflows and translate them into detailed, automatable test scenarios
  • Clear documentation of test cases in X-ray format, with the level of detail required for automation engineers to code without ambiguity
  • Experience in SIT, UAT, and regression testing
  • Experience working in Agile or hybrid banking projects
  • Domain knowledge in core banking applications built on Temenos T24/Transact, including account management, deposits, lending, trade finance, treasury, and securities
  • Familiarity with payment processing workflows (SWIFT, SEPA, domestic and cross-border payments)
  • Understanding of T24 versioning, workflows, and navigation structure
  • Has a bachelor’s degree related to the area of expertise and/or at least 6 years of experience in a similar position as manual test engineer with focus on IT & finance
  • ISTQB foundation is essential
  • Strong skills in test management tools like JIRA, Xray
  • Experience with defect tracking and writing detailed, structured test cases
  • Core banking understanding is a must

Nice-to-have criteria
  • Exposure to test automation frameworks and tools, e.g., Selenium, Cucumber
  • Hands-on experience with Temenos T24/Transact (R22 or later) is strongly preferred. Candidates must be able to navigate T24, understand its data model, and identify the technical steps required to execute banking transactions within the system
  • Familiarity with core banking product modules: customer onboarding, account opening, deposits (term deposits, savings, current accounts), lending (loans, credit facilities), trade finance, treasury, and securities processing
  • Experience supporting or participating in core banking & Output delivery system upgrade or migration projects (e.g., release upgrades, platform migrations) is a significant advantage
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional setup, collaborating daily with requirements engineers, developers, and business analysts across multiple banking domains
