Tasks and responsibilities
- Design, implement, and operate enterprise database platforms with a focus on Microsoft SQL Server, while supporting additional database technologies.
- Ensure the availability, performance, security, and reliability of business-critical database environments.
- Define technical architectures and infrastructure concepts for database and data platform solutions.
- Lead technical implementation, modernization, and lifecycle projects from planning through delivery.
- Optimize database performance, capacity, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Advise internal stakeholders on database architecture, security, operational best practices, and technical improvements.
- Support application and data integration initiatives in collaboration with development and infrastructure teams.
- Work closely with internal teams and external service providers to maintain stable and secure platform operations.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure high platform availability and operational support.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the engineering team.

Must-have criteria
- Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or an equivalent technical qualification.
- Several years of hands-on experience administering and engineering Microsoft SQL Server environments.
- Strong expertise with SQL Server AlwaysOn, high availability, performance tuning, security, upgrades, and disaster recovery.
- Experience with T-SQL and PowerShell scripting.
- Practical experience with Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a structured and independent working style.

Nice-to-have criteria
- Experience with MariaDB, MySQL, or Oracle databases.
- Exposure to enterprise integration technologies such as Kafka or ESB solutions.
- Experience designing enterprise-scale database architectures.
- Experience leading technical projects or platform modernization initiatives.
- Familiarity with enterprise IT environments requiring high availability and operational resilience.
