Tasks and responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and coordination for the Network & Security team
- Design, implement, and manage network infrastructure projects end-to-end
- Own the architecture, lifecycle, and operations of enterprise network systems
- Ensure stable and secure operation of core infrastructure (WAN, campus, data centre)
- Manage external providers, vendors, and service partners
- Maintain and continuously improve network documentation and standards
- Conduct risk assessments, identify vulnerabilities, and define mitigation strategies
- Oversee monitoring, service performance, and SLA compliance
- Coordinate and supervise external contractors and third-party resources
- Drive procurement processes and contribute to budgeting and cost planning
- Deliver training and knowledge sharing within the team

Must-have criteria
- Proven experience in a senior network engineering role within enterprise environments
- Strong expertise in network architecture, operations, and security
- Experience leading or coordinating technical teams
- Hands-on experience managing complex network infrastructures (WAN, LAN, data centre)
- Relevant professional-level or expert-level certifications (e.g. Cisco, etc.)
- Degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Nice-to-have criteria
- Experience in academic, research, or public sector environments
- Exposure to IT service management frameworks (e.g. ITIL)
- Experience with security frameworks, risk management, or compliance standards
- Familiarity with cloud networking or hybrid infrastructure environments
- Experience with automation, scripting, or infrastructure-as-code
- Vendor management and procurement experience
- Interest in mentoring or developing junior team members
- Ability to communicate effectively in both technical and business contexts
- Additional languages are an advantage

- German: fluent / professional proficiency (C1 level or equivalent)
- English: strong working proficiency (B2+/C1)
