Tasks and responsibilities
  • Manage and optimise Microsoft Exchange Online and Exchange Server environments
  • Ensure reliable operation and continuous improvement of Microsoft 365 collaboration services
  • Administer and support Microsoft 365 technologies including Exchange Online Teams SharePoint Online and Outlook
  • Maintain and enhance Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID services
  • Deliver second and third line support for messaging and collaboration platforms
  • Design and implement scalable workplace and communication solutions
  • Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Lead technical initiatives and contribute to digital workplace transformation projects
  • Monitor service health performance and security across Microsoft 365 services
  • Investigate and resolve complex email delivery and mail flow issues
  • Manage SMTP relay services connectors and message tracking activities
  • Develop and maintain automation solutions using PowerShell
  • Contribute to architecture decisions and technology roadmaps
  • Collaborate with security teams on risk assessments compliance and incident response
  • Improve operational processes documentation and service standards
  • Support agile delivery teams and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Must-have criteria
  • Degree in Information Technology Computer Science or a related discipline
  • Several years of hands on experience with Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft 365
  • Strong expertise in Exchange Online and Exchange Server administration
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID and Active Directory
  • Experience managing Microsoft Teams Outlook and SharePoint Online
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex messaging issues
  • Experience designing and implementing enterprise collaboration solutions
  • Strong PowerShell scripting and automation skills
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non technical audiences
  • Experience working in complex enterprise IT environments
  • Strong analytical problem solving and decision making skills
  • Customer focused approach with excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team
  • Experience working within agile delivery environments

Nice-to-have criteria
  • Experience with Microsoft Defender and Microsoft security technologies
  • Experience with Exchange hybrid environments and migration projects
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Purview compliance and governance solutions
  • Experience in higher education research or public sector organisations
  • Knowledge of IT service management frameworks such as ITIL
  • Experience with ticketing and collaboration tools such as Jira Confluence or TOPdesk
  • Familiarity with identity governance and access management concepts
  • Experience supporting large scale Microsoft 365 deployments
  • Knowledge of cloud architecture and modern workplace strategies
  • Experience with automation platforms and infrastructure as code practices
  • Microsoft certifications such as MS 102 AZ 104 or SC 300
  • Experience contributing to technical architecture and roadmap planning
  • Additional European language skills would be considered an advantage
